Singing in the rain with Rhonda

It rained during the night, with full on thunder and lightning in the morning.  It was a little scary for little birds, since the male human had done a poor job of closing up the coop, so naturally they just HAD to push the coop door open.   Come morning, there was a break in the weather, and Rhonda marshaled her minions out to collect worms.   No sooner did they all get their worming boots on but the rain started again.  Back into the coop.  Half an hour later, the rain stopped again.  Again, Rhonda went forth to collect tasty worms.  She managed to get one this time before the rain came down again.  Back into the coop.  About twenty minutes later, the rain again stopped.  This time Rhonda wasn’t going to be fooled.  She waited, peering out at the treacherous sky.  Almost a full half hour passed before she again exited to get the remaining worms.  And with a flash of lightning, the rain started again.

With a cry of despair, Rhonda cursed the fickle weather gods and returned to the coop.  Eventually, the rain tapered off to a light drizzle, and Rhonda decided that was good enough.  She sent the ducks out first to see if the rain would melt feathers, then told her minions to hush and go get worms.

It’s a light sort of mist now, and Rhonda is in the pen, pecking at the ground and complaining at the sky, challenging the weather gods to come down here and face her honorably!
